Overpowering the sun creates a very dramatic effect on your images

Start off by setting your camera to Sunny 16 rule. When shooting with flash, remember that adjusting the shutterspeed will only affect the background ambient light and the flash output will affect the foreground. We want to darken the background by at least two stops. So to darken the background we increase the shutterspeed (ie, make it faster). There is a problem when our shutterspeed matches our sync speed. To correct this problem, we increase our f-stop to 22 and double our flash strength.
